Patient Showcase after Bilateral Cataract Surgery

It was with great pleasure that I saw Jacqueline at her second post-operative visit.

Jacqueline is a district nurse and had bilateral cataract surgery with distance and astigmatism correcting lenses 6 weeks ago. Jacqueline is absolutely delighted with her visual improvement, and in particular, commented at her visit today, how much the surgery has improved her quality of life. As you know a lot of my clinical research looks at quality of life improvements after cataract and glaucoma surgery and has shown the undoubted benefits of this.

Since Jacqueline's surgery 6 weeks ago she has won 6 tennis trophies, the last one pictured here. She has also completed a 10km run with her son.

She feels that the surgery has given her a new lease of life and confidence, which has also been noticed by her patients and staff colleagues.

I wanted to share this with our readers just to again highlight how life changing cataract surgery can be, both in terms of vision and in terms of quality of life.

I would like to give particular thanks to Jaqueline who has given her kind permission to share her story.
