Updates from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons in Vienna
I have just returned back from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery annual meeting in Vienna.
It is the largest meeting worldwide of cataract and refractive surgeons, and I was delighted to be given the opportunity to present some of my latest research, particularly on “Quality of Life”.
As you know, I am currently performing a lot of research that highlights, not only the visual improvements that you get with cataract surgery but how this quick and safe operation can significantly improve the quality of life of patients.
The innovations and advancements in cataract surgery continue to evolve at a rapid rate.
The biggest take-home message from this meeting was intraocular lens technology, particularly the enhanced premium lens to give distance and intermediate vision, is providing excellent outcomes for patients.
These lenses do not have some of the potential side effects of multifocal lenses, in that there is no glare, halos, or starbursts.
At Innovation Eye Clinic I have been using this lens for the past 3 years and I was delighted to see that the excellent outcomes that I have been getting with our patients are also reflected by other leading colleagues worldwide.
